Apparently these are Pepsi’s new ‘logos’. Word on the street is they spent 5 months and $1 million dollars on what amounts to an amateurish-at-best attempt at design. This very well could be just another example of corporate ignorance when it comes to proper design technique, or it could be evidence of something far more insidious. There is evil at work in the design world I’m afraid and it’s evidenced by this terrible trifecta of mediocrity. Uninspired design such as this reeks of recent college grad-work. Short on talent, but long on “Hey, I know how to make circles in Adobe Illustrator!”. Sure, most of these “designers” have never touched a pencil, but who needs to draw when you can come up with this amazing stuff in ten minutes on your laptop while eating your hummus sandwich and drinking a cafe latte? Barf.
The Pepsi logo for most of the 70s and 80s. Easily reproducible in color or black & white. Very versatile. Bold and impressionable, a ’stamp’ that is perfectly weighted and easily recognizable with or without color. It hasn’t been seen nor heard from in almost two decades; taken for a ride and buried in a shallow grave in the woods just outside New Jersey. We miss ya ‘ol buddy.
